"And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme." - Paul Simon

Since the early days of the pandemic, Bandcamp Friday has been a really cool thing.
It’s been a monthly beacon to look forward to.
A mini-Christmas for indie music fans.
A reason for me to finish my songs and get them out the door.
If you haven’t heard of it, Bandcamp is a platform designed for discovering music and supporting indie artists.
During the pandemic, Bandcamp started a no-fee Friday. They agreed to waive their platform fees during the first Friday of each month, essentially giving their $ share back to indie artists for each sale.
The result has been a flood of indie musicians putting out new material and merchandise to coincide with the monthly event.
Like many, I’ve used Bandcamp Fridays as milestones to release my new songs. And when I do, my followers are instantly notified and invited to listen and support me making music.
It’s been incredible to feel the love.
And I’ve made some great connections along the way.
Another interesting by-product is it helped me put some discipline around my writing, recording and releasing music.
It’s a date on the calendar I can work toward.
This Friday, September 1st is the next Bandcamp Friday.
And if my new-found discipline holds, I’ll have a brand new song to share.

In the spirit of sharing, here’s my newest Bandcamp discovery. I’ve been a Tony Molina fan for sometime, but only recently discovered his previous band Ovens (thanks for the tip, Andre B).
